I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America…how many of us hated saying the pledge every morning to the flag above the chalkboard at school? Our generation, 80’s babies, does not seem to have much American pride. Sad to say, but we are so warped in Fashion, Music, Sex, Drugs, T.V., etc. Or shall I say “What’s IN”. Not saying this is everyone, but most. ( I’ll admit, I slip from time to time of my politics and current events, but I balance that out with my “What’s IN”.) Well here’s trend that I have been seeing this year that has caught our generation in becoming more prideful of our country…The American Flag. This trend has our nations flag printed on everything you can think of that relates to fashion- Clothes, shoes, hats, sunglasses, accessories, jewelry, etc. Quick question is this for fashion or for pride? Personally fashion expresses how you feel and your personality. So if you are proud to be an American, why not be fashionable at the same time?! I L O V E the trend for its image and for the message of getting us Americans back to how it was back in the day, Proud of the USA! One thing I do find interesting is that when an American Flag touches the ground you are supposed to burn it…so does that apply to American Flag printed socks & shoes?!
Ughhh thats Nasty!

Nasty. DUCK
So...I've never really been a fan of Dooney & Bourke, and that's probably because of the colorful DB & hearts antics they had on fine leather. It came off as juvenile to me. So of course like any other fad that died. However, in a recent trip to Nordstroms, I was checking out their new inventory. Ran across a familiar collection of handbags I recall seeing as a child. I was so curious to see as who the "make" was. Low and behold, Dooney & Bourke. When I was a young child, probably 3 or 4 years old I distinctly reminisce one of my mothers crossover leather handbag. It was camel and hunter green with a picture of a DUCK where the flap of the bag was. Back to the present at Nordstroms, it clicked to my head my mother has this EXACT same bag! I was ecstatic!!! What made it more exciting other than not having to make a purchase, was that I was able to have an original Vintage handbag passed down. I almost had my hopes up though, my mother said she couldn't find it and possibly gave it to Goodwill! Ummm Ma'am you don't give a designer all purpose $300 (in the 80's that was the usd) handbag away to Goodwill when you have two GIRLS! Whew, I had a moment there! Well just my luck, she found it! It's perfect. But of course, Marcus said its only right to get a new age one as well. (that's a later post) There is such a variety of the Dooney & Bourke all weather leather DUCK bags available. From crossovers, carrier, satchels, drawstring, saddle to briefcase. Prices range from $165 to $298 and assorted colors: black, navy, hunter green, ivory, camel, and red. As you can see Fashion runs in my bloodline! And tip for you mothers out there with daughters, please please keep your leather goods for family heirloom & vintage pieces, us daughters greatly appreciate it!

The Coraline
I have been following these shoes like Twitter since they released. The Coraline is Messeca's biggest sensation. It's my Sinsation. When first released the original colors were Black, Sand, and Turquoise. I am unfortunate enough to wear a size 6, which means they sell out in my size quickly. So when I came across these shoes online, they were G O N E. My best friend Yink who wears a size 7 was lucky enough to find her size in the turquoise. I was on a hunt for W E E K S! Until one day I found out there was a larger shipment with a larger variety of colors! The new line consisted of Neon Green, Coral, Neon Coral, Leopard, and Neon Purple. God answered my prayers. Of course it was supply and demand. Therefore, the shoes were on pre-order for a month. Even with pre-order my size was selling out like hot cakes atIHOP. One month later, my baby was delivered, Neon Purple Coraline, which in my opinion in person comes off as a Fuschia.

Nasty News!!!
HotLanta listed as Hotmess!!!
Y i k e s! Thanks to @mustbemie ReTweet of the AJC I came across a disturbing article. The Truth Hurts! GQ online 'Style & Fashion'column recent article is dedicated to “The 40 Worst Dressed Cities”. Low and behold, Atlanta was listed at #24! Now ya’ll know F.I.L.A <Forever. I. Love. Atlanta >! So my heart dropped when I saw my hometown on the list, which I thought was a city that was rising in the fashion industry. Don’t get paid to think huh! So I was like “Breathe Annie, its GQ there must be some logic behind it”. Read the article, and there is some truth in it. Howsever (that my country voice), they are of course looking only at the negative and the loudest. All this tells us ATLiens, the article really pertained to the MEN, please step your game up! As always, I am available for wardrobe consulting if needed. I can’t let my city go down in shambles! Also, their opinion is just that, an opinion. Love my city to the death of me!

Nasty, LIPS
Lipstick vs Lip gloss
Hmmmm…this is a great “competition”. Here are Merriam Websters definition of the two:
LIPSTICK: a waxy solid usually colored cosmetic in stick form for the lips.
LIP GLOSS: definition not found
So what does this say?!?! Lip-gloss is a derivative or replication of Lipstick!
I Kid. This is just MY opinion, please don’t run with it & twist it! (That tends to happen a LOT with me) Most that know me, knows that I love the simplicities in life and signature or original items. However, if there is an alternative to the signature or original item for something that is unattainable I’m ALL for it! So, back to the lip gear. My choice would be LIPSTICK! I love the fact that it was the original lip wear for women to show femininity. So classic and glamorous! Sometimes I feel as though lip gloss can be too GLOSSY and SHINY. HOWEVER, if done well and proper materials lip-gloss is still an option in my book. The point I’m making is that if I was put a hypothetical gun to my head I would choose LIPSTICK. But what I have found out recently that works for me is combining the two together. ONLY if used properly. I.e.: Nude lipstick with Nude/Crème Lip gloss.
